Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information Crazy&Gk Production collects when you visit this website or play our games, why we collect it, who else can see it, and what you can ask us to do with it. We have written it in plain language on purpose. If anything here is unclear, email us and we will explain it.
1. Who we are
Crazy&Gk Production ("we", "us", "our") is an independent game studio operating from the United States. We make browser games and animated work, published at this website and on the platforms we link to.
For anything relating to privacy or your personal information, we are the data controller, and you can reach us at support@crazyandgk.com.
This policy covers this website and the games hosted on it. It does not cover our channels on platforms such as YouTube, Twitch, Patreon, CurseForge or Discord, which are governed by those companies' own privacy policies.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
If you email our support address, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you write to us. We only use that to answer you.
If you support us on Patreon, Patreon tells us your display name, your tier, and any message you send. We never receive your card details or full billing address.
Information collected automatically
Like almost every website, our host records basic technical information when a page is requested. This includes your IP address, the page requested, the date and time, your browser and operating system, and the site that referred you. These server logs exist for security and reliability, not marketing.
Information stored on your own device
Some of our games save progress in your browser's local storage — for example which chapter of A Hunt for a New Life you have reached, or a high score. This data stays on your device. We cannot read it, and clearing your browser data deletes it permanently.
3. What we do not collect
To be direct about it:
- We do not require an account to play anything on this site.
- We do not sell, rent or trade personal information to anyone, for any price.
- We do not run advertising or advertising trackers on this site.
- We do not build advertising profiles or track you across other websites.
- We do not collect your precise location.
- We do not use your data to train machine learning models.
4. How we use information
We use the limited information described above only to:
- deliver the website and the games to your browser;
- reply to support emails and fix problems you report;
- keep the site secure, and detect abuse or attacks;
- understand in aggregate which games people play, so we know what to build next;
- meet our legal obligations.
If you are in the UK, EU or another region with similar law, our legal bases are: legitimate interests for security, reliability and aggregate understanding of how the site is used; consent where you have given it, which you may withdraw at any time; contract where you have bought a paid episode; and legal obligation where the law requires us to keep records.
5. Cookies and local storage
We do not set advertising or tracking cookies on this website.
Our games may use your browser's local storage to remember progress and settings, as described above. This is storage on your own machine rather than a cookie sent back to us, and it is used only to make the game work the way you would expect.
Third-party services we embed or load from, listed in the next section, may set their own cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some embedded content may then stop working.
6. Third-party services
We keep the number of outside services deliberately small. The ones we rely on are:
- Vercel — hosts this website and serves its pages. Vercel processes request logs on our behalf.
- Google Fonts — supplies the typefaces used across the site. Loading a font sends your IP address to Google.
- Image hosting — some artwork on this site is served from a third-party image host, which receives a request from your browser when the image loads.
- Patreon — handles memberships and all payments associated with them.
- YouTube and Twitch — where our video and streams live. Following those links takes you onto their platforms and under their policies.
Each of these companies is an independent controller of the data it receives, and each publishes its own privacy policy.
7. Payments and paid episodes
The first episode of every chapter of A Hunt for a New Life is free. Later episodes may be paid.
When you pay for something, the payment is processed by an external payment provider or platform. Your card number, security code and full billing details go to that provider and never reach our servers. We receive only what we need to give you what you bought, such as a confirmation that a purchase succeeded.
Refunds and billing disputes are handled through the platform you bought from, in line with its terms.
8. How long we keep information
- Support emails — kept while we deal with your question and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you write again, then deleted.
- Server logs — kept for a short period by our host for security and troubleshooting, then rotated out automatically.
- Game progress — kept on your device until you clear it. We hold no copy.
- Purchase records — kept as long as tax and accounting law requires.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights over personal information we hold about you:
- to access it, and receive a copy;
- to have inaccurate information corrected;
- to have it deleted;
- to restrict or object to how we use it;
- to receive it in a portable format;
- to withdraw consent you previously gave;
- to not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights.
If you are a California resident, you also have the right to know what personal information is collected and whether it is sold or shared. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law, and we have not done so in the past twelve months.
To exercise any right, email support@crazyandgk.com. We will respond within one month, and will not charge you for a reasonable request. We may need to confirm your identity before acting, to make sure we are not handing your information to someone else.
If you are in the UK or EU and you think we have handled your information badly, you may complain to your national data protection authority. We would rather you told us first so we can put it right.
10. Children's privacy
This website is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Several of our games are horror titles intended for older players.
If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we will delete it promptly. Parents and guardians are welcome to contact us with any question about what we hold.
11. International transfers
We operate from the United States, and the services we use may process data in the United States and elsewhere. If you are outside the United States, your information may therefore be transferred to a country whose data protection law differs from your own. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses, which our providers make available.
12. Security
The site is served over HTTPS, and we keep access to our accounts and tooling limited to the people who need it. We choose established providers rather than running our own infrastructure, because they are better at this than a small studio would be.
No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we will not claim otherwise. If a breach ever affects your personal information, we will notify you and the relevant regulator as the law requires.
13. Links to other sites
Our pages link out to platforms including YouTube, Twitch, Patreon and CurseForge. Once you follow a link, you are on their site and this policy no longer applies. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of sites we do not run.
14. Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when what we do changes. The date at the top always reflects the current version. If a change materially affects your rights, we will make that clear on the site rather than quietly editing the page.
15. How to contact us
Privacy questions, requests and complaints all go to the same place:
We read everything that comes in, and a real person answers.
